Emma Major - Author Talk

Artist, poet and author Emma Major launches her latest book at the festival!

A descendant of Colonel Sir William Fitzthomas Wyley, one of Coventry's most influential civic figures, Emma has a personal connection to the city's history. Colonel Wyley was a former Mayor of Coventry, a prominent businessman, and owner of Charterhouse, which he later left in trust for the people of Coventry. 

Emma's work explores themes including disability, grief, mental health, faith and climate change. A blind wheelchair user and passionate advocate for creativity, particularly among people living with disability and chronic illness, she combines thoughtful storytelling with historical research to bring the past vividly to life.

Alongside Emma's book launch, the event will include contributions exploring the life, legacy and lasting impact of the Wyley family on Coventry and Charterhouse.
