Sandy Wainwright takes you on a fascinating journey into the lives of ordinary people in medieval England and the remarkable family whose story may be more deeply woven into our history than previously thought.
Drawing on years of genealogical research, Sandy explores the life of Sir Geoffrey de Langley, a self-made knight who rose to wealth and influence in the 13th century, and investigates possible links to some of the most prominent Langley families of the medieval period, including that of Bishop Thomas de Langley, a key figure in the reigns of Henry IV and Henry V.
Set against the backdrop of medieval Warwickshire and Coventry, this talk will also explore the wider world of the period, including the role of religious institutions such as Coventry Charterhouse, whose history provides a valuable window into the lives, beliefs and communities…
